Artists that Inspire me...

The first artist that inspires me is Doris Salcedo. She is an installation artist who responds to the conflict and violence that happens daily in the country of Colombia where she lives. Her work deals with her being a witness to people who are being controled by fear within her Colombian society. In her work she uses materials such as concrete, animal skin, and clothing. She also uses a number of found objects such as doors, chairs, and shoes. She inspires me by using her art and making it become this voice for the people who were silenced in her country.

This piece is called Atrabiliarios each object within her work implies a nameless person. The person that these objects or articles of clothing belonged too. Each of these shoes is placed inside the wall and then covered by animal skin which is stitched into the wall. All of these shoes once belonged to women who disappered. They are ment to be the persistent memory for those women who are lost.

Living Room

I took the glasses out.... Not sure if I even really liked them? I tried adding in other things such as books but I kind of like it better without the extra item.

Jessica Somers

I really enjoyed Jessica Somers series Bend So Not to Break her images are Ziatype prints on salted cotten paper which creates surface marks on the images which are very interesting. In her work she wants to explore the balance between the choices we make and the things that interfere with those choices. I like the way that her process also deals with her content the chemicals invovled with the prints and the salted cotten paper allow for an uncontrolled outcome
just like the imagery in her work. Her is an example of one of her images called Motherhood

Changes...

Here are some of the changes I have made... I added more purple seeping out of the doorway also I have changed the weather on the outside of the windows by adding another eye scan in behind them. I like the purple seeping onto the floor I still feel like it needs more purple? I'm still experimenting with it. The windows however I'm not quite sure about yet they seem a little too dark? Any suggestions?
